MOTHERLODE Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Infested Playground LLC handles information in connection with MOTHERLODE, playmotherlode.com, the demo download service, the public server directory, and related services we operate.

1. Scope

This policy applies to MOTHERLODE services operated by Infested Playground LLC, including this website, the standalone demo download service, the public MOTHERLODE server directory, and support communications.

Third-party services such as Steam are operated under their own terms and privacy policies. When you use MOTHERLODE through a third-party platform, that platform may process information independently from us.

2. Information we may process

Website and service requests

Like most Internet services, our hosting, security, and delivery infrastructure may process ordinary technical request information needed to serve pages, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and keep services available. This can include information such as an IP address, request time, requested resource, browser or client information, and related network metadata.

Demo downloads

The MOTHERLODE website can record a coarse download source and referrer classification when a demo download is requested. The public download counter is designed to provide an approximate unique-browser count without storing IP addresses, personal profiles, or fingerprinting identifiers for that counter.

Public multiplayer server directory

If a host chooses to advertise a MOTHERLODE server publicly, the directory processes information needed to publish and maintain that listing. This may include the server name, selected region, game or multiplayer version, current/max player counts, listing status/heartbeat information, and the network endpoint needed for players to connect. Public listings expire automatically when a host stops advertising them.

Direct multiplayer connections

MOTHERLODE multiplayer connections are direct to the host. Network addresses and connection metadata are necessarily exchanged or processed as part of establishing and maintaining those connections. Players who host games should understand that other players connecting to the host can necessarily communicate with the host's network endpoint.

Support communications

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, screenshots, diagnostic details, and other attachments. Please do not send passwords, payment-card information, product keys, or other sensitive information unless we specifically request information that is appropriate and necessary for the support issue.

3. How we use information

We use information as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide and operate the MOTHERLODE website, demo downloads, multiplayer directory, and related services.
  • Enable multiplayer discovery and connections.
  • Respond to support requests and investigate bug reports.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, troubleshoot outages, and improve reliability.
  • Understand aggregate service activity, such as approximate demo download counts.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and services.

4. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information.

We may use hosting, content-delivery, email, security, infrastructure, or other service providers to operate MOTHERLODE and its online services. Those providers may process information on our behalf as needed to provide their services.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect the security or rights of users and services, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5. Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including operation, support, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Different information can have different retention periods.

Public server listings are temporary and expire automatically when a host stops advertising/heartbeating. Infrastructure providers may retain ordinary security or access logs according to their own operational retention practices.

6. Your choices and privacy requests

You can choose not to advertise a game through the public server directory. You can also choose what information to include when contacting support.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights concerning personal information, such as requesting access, correction, deletion, or information about processing. To make a privacy request, contact us at [email protected]. We may need enough information to verify and respond to the request.

7. Children's privacy

Our services are not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can review the situation.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the services we operate. No Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MOTHERLODE and its services change. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date on this page and, when appropriate, provide additional notice.
